I’ve been having computer troubles—damn, you, Mac OS %^#$@!^&.4!—you promise me pearly goods, and then stick it to me with lemons.

This is the future: staring at a spinning wheel set against a blue-lit screen. And the dull whir of the hard drive eats away my brain.

And why do computers generate errors? (This is a serious existential question.) I thought they were all 1s and 0s, perfect functionaries of pure math? How then can calculators, albeit very smart calculators, be wrong from time to time?
